Creator Lab payouts are processed through third party payment platforms such as Stripe and PayPal. Because of this, tax reporting is handled differently than traditional contractor payments.

Will I receive a 1099?

In most cases, no.

Creator Lab earnings fall under Form 1099-K reporting (not 1099-NEC), which is issued by payment platforms like Stripe and PayPal.

A 1099-K is only generated if you meet both of the following thresholds within a calendar year:

  • $20,000 in total payments

  • 200 transactions

Why doesn’t Audacy issue 1099s?

Payments are made through Stripe and PayPal, which are considered third party payment processors.

These platforms are responsible for issuing any required tax forms (such as 1099-Ks) when thresholds are met. Because of this structure, Audacy does not issue 1099 forms for Creator Lab payouts.

Do I still need to report my earnings?

Yes.

Even if you do not receive a 1099 form, Creator Lab earnings are still considered taxable income.

As confirmed by our tax advisors, individuals are responsible for reporting this income on their tax returns regardless of whether a tax form is issued.

How can I calculate my earnings?

You can reference your payout history directly in:

  • Your Creator Lab account

  • Your Stripe or PayPal account

These records can be used to determine your total earnings for the year.

What should I do next?
