Audacy Creator Lab provides a basic audio editor designed for podcasters who need to make structural edits to their episodes, like trimming, inserting clips, and managing ad breaks.
Editing Steps
If you’re just getting started, here’s how you might go about editing your podcast:
Trim the Beginning and End: Start by trimming any unwanted audio from the start and end of your episode, such as long silences or pre-recording chatter.
Review for Content: Listen through your episode and find sections you might want to cut, tighten, or adjust.
Insert Additional Clips: If you have intro/outro music or pre-recorded segments, insert them into the correct spots as you go.
Add Ad Breaks: Once your content is organized, mark your ad break spots.
(You can read our Ad Break Guide for more details.)
Final Review: Listen to the entire episode to ensure everything flows smoothly and your edits sound natural.
Audio Editor Features
The Creator Lab audio editor is designed to keep things simple. Here’s a quick overview of the buttons and what they do:
Play: Press the play button to listen to your episode. Use this to review content or find the spots where you want to make edits.
Zoom: Zoom in on the waveform to get a closer look at your audio and make your edits as precisely as possible
Playhead: Click on the timeline to place the playhead where you want to take an action, such as trimming or inserting a clip. The blue playback progress line will indicate the playhead position.
Trim: Remove parts of your audio from the beginning or end of the episode, or cut out sections in the middle. Click Trim, and the audio that will be kept is highlighted in green. Click and drag the Trim area, when you click save, audio outside of the trim area will be removed
Insert: Upload additional audio clips (e.g., intro music, pre-recorded interviews, sponsor messages) from your computer and place them before, in, or after your main content. Just move the playhead to the spot where you want the new clip, click Insert, and upload the file from your Mac or PC.
Once the file is uploaded you may choose whether the ad goes in the beginning, the end, or at the current playhead
By following the steps outlined above, you can ensure your episode sounds clean, professional, and engaging for your listeners. Once your edits are complete, don’t forget to give your episode a final listen to make sure everything flows naturally before publishing.
